Fox and Beggar Theater

January 16, 2015

Founded by Nat Allister in 2013, the Fox & Beggar Theater is an award-winning company committed to creating large-scale theatrical productions, building bridges across Asheville’s art community, and showcasing the immense talent of regional performers. Fox & Beggar’s imaginative productions have been performed to audiences throughout the eastern United States. The Citizen-Times called their critically-acclaimed, sold-out production of Animalia: A Zoological Circus for the Stage “one of the largest local theater collaborations on an Asheville stage,” featuring ninety-seven cast and crew members and interweaving dance, acrobatics, puppetry, video art, live music, and folklore-driven storytelling into a multi-sensory extravaganza.

Our shows are attended by an audience as diverse as Asheville itself. Seasoned theater-goers and patrons of the arts, struggling young artists, families and children, tattooed freaks, farmers, academics, spiritualists, dancers, travelers and tourists equally enjoy what the Fox & Beggar brings to the stage. Our productions introduce concept artists to bellydancers, video artists to costume designers, puppeteers to composers to acrobats. Both in the audience and behind the scenes, few theater companies extend across such a broad scope.

I built Fox and Beggar’s website as a WordPress child theme, and provided customizations in the back-end, plugins, and front-end appearance of the site.
